Yarnell AZ Real Estate Mountain Views and Cool Summers an Hour North of Wickenburg

Yarnell sits at 4,800 feet on the Weaver Mountains along AZ-89, roughly 35 miles north of Wickenburg. It’s a small mountain community – population around 700 – with cooler summer temperatures, panoramic views across the Sonoran Desert, and some of the most affordable prices for high-elevation living in the state.

Yarnell carries a complicated history – the 2013 Yarnell Hill Fire resulted in significant loss, including the deaths of 19 Granite Mountain Hotshots. The community has rebuilt considerably since then, and there is a strong local spirit among the residents who chose to stay and return.

What buyers find in Yarnell: Modestly priced homes – many in the $150,000–$300,000 range – with mountain character and views that would cost two to three times as much in the Prescott market. A small but genuine community with local shops, a post office, and the annual Yarnell Blue Bell Festival. Summers that are 15–20 degrees cooler than the Phoenix valley floor.

Price range: $100,000–$450,000 Best for: Budget buyers wanting elevation, second homes, retirees on fixed income, buyers comparing Yarnell vs. Prescott on price
